Who we are
A note on the mark:
The mark is a Whitby snakestone - the fossilized spiral of an ammonite, tied to the legend of Saint Hilda of Whitby. Hilda ran a monastery where an illiterate cowherd named Caedmon, with nothing to show for his life by any measure of his time, was given a song and became the first named poet in the English language. She recognized what he’d been formed into without ever testing him for it.
Seeds to Stars didn’t start as a curriculum. It started as twenty years of watching kids come through a school building capable of almost anything except knowing why any of it mattered.
I spent two decades as a public school teacher and principal before this, and founded a boxing club because some things a kid needs to learn only gets taught with your hands, not a worksheet. Somewhere in those two very different rooms - the principal’s office and the gym - the same problem kept showing up: we’d gotten very good at making students capable and much worse at making them oriented.
This is what I wish I could have handed them.
Why?
Students are increasingly capable, but increasingly unmoored. Not because they lack information. Because almost nothing in their formation asks them to wait, to tend something slowly, or to find out what they’re responsible for that isn’t about them.
How?
Through four domains every student works in every year: Story, Craft, Soil, and Sky. Not electives - the actual architecture of a formation-first education, built on a twelve-grade virtue skeleton drawn from the historic Christian tradition.
Who?
This is built for parish, private, and homeschool co-ops - real teachers and real families who already know the difference between a student who’s absorbed information and one who’s been changed by something real. Seeds to Stars is a framework meant to be adapted locally, not a program to “install”.
